Brief description of SOL and Ecademy
SOL-Swiss Occidental Leonardo (www.s-o-l.ch)
and the Ecademy Network (www.ecademy.ch)
are partners from Switzerland. SOL carries out the management, testing and dissemination
activities of the project whereas Ecademy participates in the content material
and software development as well as the evaluation and implementation of the
prototype in Switzerland.
SOL is the regional LEONARDO office
for Western Switzerland (French speaking Switzerland) and has been funded in
1992 by the Swiss Ministry for Education and Science to promote and develop
Swiss indirect participation in LEONARDO pilot projects. Thanks to its experience
in LEONARDO project management, SOL has been setting up an important cooperation
network with enterprises, educational institutions, as well as vocational and
guidance centres in Switzerland and Europe and has contributed to the development
of innovative prospects in the field of vocational training. SOL is currently
partner in 15 pilot and mobility projects and is also carrying out student placement
activities.
Ecademy is the National Network of
Excellence of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences for E-Business and
E-Government. Ecademy currently has 12 member institutions, from all University
of Applied Sciences regions in Switzerland. The University of Applied Sciences
(UAS) of Basel is the leading house. The vision and goals of Ecademy are aligned
to the central idea of bringing together and coordinating the skills, focal
points and resources of the full range of activities of the Universities of
Applied Sciences: education, further training, applied research and development,
innovative services and knowledge transfer - oriented towards (business and
government) practice. Contributing to E-Study project, Ecademy hopes to develop
interesting synergies with its current ICT activities as well as its executive
